Q - How do you prove that “Spirit of Truth” is meant for the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and not the “Holy ghost”?

Spirit of truth” is mentioned only 4 times, who we refer it to be Muhammad (PBUH), “Holy ghost” is mentioned 89 times, but let’s what is mentioned only about “Spirit of truth” and how can we know him correctly:

[John 14:16-17]
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

[John 15:26]
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

[John 16:7-8, 12-14]
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

[John 4:1-6]
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

After reading all this, if you want to know if “Spirit of truth” is Muhammad (PBUH) or Holy ghost, let’s see the criteria set by Jesus (PBUH):

1. “but if I depart, I will send him unto you”, so who did come after Jesus (PBUH)?

o   Muhammad (PBUH):  YES, he was born in 571 AD after Jesus (PBUH).
o   Holy Ghost: was before, with Jesus and after Jesus, he was already known.

2. “when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment”

o   Muhammad (PBUH):  YES, he put a complete law of religion and righteousness.
o   Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

3.  “even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”

o   Muhammad (PBUH): Yes, it’s among Islam rules to believe in all prophets and that Jesus son of marry is a prophet from God.
o   Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

4. “he will guide you into all truth”

o   Muhammad (PBUH): Yes, he detailed every guideline that human may need.
o   Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

5. “and he will show you things to come.”

o   Muhammad (PBUH): Yes, 100’s of future events in Quran and in Hadith, as an example, it’s mentioned in Quran that Children of Israel will return back to Palestine and build their second state and it will be strong:

And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture, indeed you would do mischief in land twice and you will become tyrants and extremely arrogant! (4)
So, when the promise came for the first of the two, We sent against you slaves of Ours given to terrible warfare. They entered the very innermost parts of your homes. And it was a promise (completely) fulfilled. (5)
Then We gave you, a return of victory over them. And We helped you with wealth and children and made you more numerous in man - power. (6)
(And We said): "If you do good, you do good for your ownselves, and if you do evil (you do it) against yourselves." Then, when the second promise came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disgrace your faces and to enter the mosque (of Jerusalem) as they had entered it before, and to destroy with utter destruction all that fell in their hands. (7) [Al-Isra 4-7]

o   Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any prophecy from him ever.

6.  “that he may abide with you for ever;”

o   Muhammad (PBUH): Yes, not physically but it means that his religion will be the last one and will stay forever and will cover all Earth, as it’s mentioned in Quran:

They intend to put out the Light of Allâh (i.e. the Religion of Islâm, this Qur'ân, and the Prophet Muhammad SAW) with their mouths. But Allâh will bring His Light to perfection even though the disbelievers hate (it). (8)
He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâmic Monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh and in His Messenger Muhammed SAW) hate (it)[]. (9) [Al-Saf 8-9]

o   Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

7.  “for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear”

o   Muhammad (PBUH): Yes, as mentioned in Quran:

By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). (1)
Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2)
Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3)
It is only a Revelation revealed. (4)
He has been taught (this Qur'ân) by one mighty in power [Jibril (Gabriel)] (5) [An-Najem 1-5]

o  Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

8. “2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: “

Muhammad (PBUH):  Yes, he testified that Jesus is a human being and not a God nor part of God nor son of God, as mentioned in Quran:

The Messiah ['Īsā (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allâh and His Books]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allâh does not eat). Look how We make the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth) (Ma’eda - 75)

o  Holy Ghost: nobody saw him or meet him or get any command from him ever.

In conclusion, who will be the “Spirit of truth” Muhammad (PBUH) or Holy ghost?
Will leave the answer for you.
